Our wine list has been loving and painstakingly put together by Lesley-Ann in collaboration with Christopher Piper Wines. Every wine on here has been tasted by us, and deemed to be worthy of a spot! Our crew are regularly involved in wine tastings so they understand the list, particularly those wines served by the glass, and no doubt they all have their favourites! Please note that vintages may vary, although we also try to keep a close eye on this and taste each vintage as it comes out to ensure the quality is the same.

Stunning, fully sparkling, off-dry Spumante from impressive family business started in 1928. Light and delicately fruit with hints of honey and wild apple.

Stunning, fully sparkling, off-dry Spumante from impressive family business started in 1928. Light and delicately fruit with hints of honey and wild apple.


Champagne

Champagne Gremillet is a small, family-owned Champagne house, situated in the picturesque far south of the Champagne district, in Balnot-sur-Laignes, Aube. Due to its southern latitude the grapes achieve greater ripeness which leads to richer fruit and classic baked-biscuit flavours mixed with characteristic toasty yeast overtones. From 1 hectare left by their grandmother, the incredibly talented children have grown the estate to 40 hectares and their champagne is listed in French embassies across the world. We are huge fans, having visited in Autumn 2016 and are delighted to partner with this award-winning family.

Award-winning Champagne with a lovely depth of fruit, a citrus freshness and a toasty brioche finish.

4. GREMILLET VRAI ROSÉ EXTRA BRUT [PINOT NOIR] - 12% abv £45.00
Deliciously dry, crisp Rosé made using the 'saignée' method of extracting the colour from the skins of the grapes. Bright, fresh red fruit characters with great length and structure.

5. GREMILLET CUVÉE ÉVIDENCE BRUT [CHARDONNAY] – 12.5% abv - £54.00
Another IWSC 2016 gold medal winner, this intriguing, exotic Champagne is made from 100% Chardonnay and aged in oak. Spicy floral aromas mingle with notes of vanilla, liquorice and biscuits on the rich and toasty palate. A perfect 'food' Champagne.

Crisp and Dry

7. SLOWINE CHENIN BLANC, 2017 £5.25 £7.25 £21.50
Slowine, Overberg, South Africa – 13.5% abv [CHENIN BLANC]
This offers a similar crispness to Sauvignon Blanc but without the mind-blowing acidity. Big and exotic with greengage and tropical fruit and a swirl of lemon sherbet on the finish. From a fascinating project which supports the parrot beaked tortoise.

8. PICPOUL DE PINET, 2016 - - £28.50
Domaine Saint Peyre, Pinet, Languedoc, South France - 12.5% abv [PICPOUL]
The vinous equivalent of gin and tonic – notes of lime–skin intertwined with fresh citrus. As you fly in to Bezier and look down upon the Mediterranean coast line you can see the oyster beds – a perfect match and with fish dishes.

9. SAUVIGNON BLANC, 2016 £6.00 £8.00 £23.95
Aroha Bay, Malborough, New Zealand – 12.5% abv [SAUVIGNON BLANC]
Lively, fresh cut grass nose with zippy kiwi fruit and impeccable balance.

10. BACCHUS FUME, 2015 - - £29.95
Lyme Bay Winery, Axe Valley, Devon – 11% abv [BACCHUS]
Well crafted, subtly oaked white; dry with plenty of refreshing citrusy zing, rounded out by a light note of peppery wood on the finish, making this a good ‘food wine’. Match with a mildly smoked fish.

Aromatic

11. GRECO BIANCO, 2015 - - £23.50
Feudo dei Baron, Statti, Calabria, Italy - 12.5% abv [GRECO]
Wonderfully aromatic and refreshing dry white wine crafted from 100% Greco Bianco grapes. It is lively and crisp with intense aromas and flavours of almonds and citrus. Made by Alberto and Antonio Statti, fourth generation farmers who champion indigenous grape varieties.

12. VERMENTINO, 2015 - - £26.00
Domaine St Hilaire, Montagnac, Pays d'Oc, France - 13% abv [VERMENTINO]
The white grape variety of Sardinia, yet here is a brilliant (award-winning) wine from Nick and Lisa Kent. Soft and mouth-filling dry white. Deliciously crisp and with a clean refreshing fruitiness. Superb with fish.

13. PINOT GRIGIO, SAINT MICHEL EPPAN, 2016 - - £32.95
San Michel Appiano, Alto Adige, Italy - 13% abv [PINOT GRIGIO]
Established in 1907, the San Michel Appiano winery is today considered to be one of the best wineries in Alto Adige Italy.

Rich and Weight

14. RIOJA BLANCO, Lopez de Haro 2016 £5.95 £7.95 £23.50
Bodega Classica, Rioja Alta, Spain - 12.5% abv [VIURA]
Silky and vibrant with white fruit and flowers, a touch of spice and the fresh palate of a young white. Easy to drink. Perfect with fish, tapas and chicken.

15. BERRY BROS & RUDD WHITE BURGUNDY, 2016 £6.95 £9.25 £26.75
Burgundy, France - 13% abv [CHARDONNAY]
This opens with aromas of hawthorn and white flowers, alongside notes of white stone fruit and lemon zest. On the palate, it is well balanced with a touch of cream, toasty hazelnut, and a persistent mineral finish. Well-structured but refreshing, it is ample and charming.

16. SEMILLON, Helmsford 2013 - - £29.50
Pauletts, Clare Valley, South Australia - 13% abv [SEMILLON]
Superb example of a grape more known in the Hunter valley and of course, Bordeaux.

17. CHARDONNAY, 2015 - - £24.50
Domaine Saint Hilaire, Montagnac, Languedoc, France- 13% abv [CHARDONNAY]
Pure and graceful unoaked Chardonnay from one of our favourite tiny estates . Nestled in the South of France, just 15 minutes from the beach at Mèze long term wine maker Vincent works his magic on this much loved grape variety. Beautiful!

18. POUILLY FUME, Villa Paulas, 2015 - - £35.00
Domaine Masson-Blondelet, Pouilly-sur-Loire, France – 13% ABV [SAUVIGNON BLANC]
Vines grown on two types of soil (Marne and Calcaire), give the wine a terrific balance and depth, and that smoky richness that only Pouilly-Fume can achieve. From a tiny producer dedicated to quality.

Deliciously juicy Pinotage, South Africas own grape, this is Pinot Noir crossed with Cinsault. Full of Summer plums and lick of spice. Easy and gulpable.

20. PINOT NOIR Reserva 2015 - - £26.95
Casas del Bosque, Casablanca , Chile – 14.5% abv [PINOT NOIR]
Ripe, fruit-driven Pinot Noir with juicy black cherry and raspberry flavours. Some earthy nuttiness adds a nice complexity to the long, elegant finish. This is the perfect red to match with duck, chicken and pork.

Medium Bodied

Bodega Classica, Rioja Alta, Spain - 13.5% abv [TEMPRANILLO, GARNACHA, GRACIANO]
How Rioja should taste! A rounded, expressive, elegant wine, made from vines of 20 to 70 years old. The fruity character of the wine is in perfect balance with the subtle toasty vanilla notes lent by 12 months in French and American oak barrels.

22. LA MOTTE MILLENIUM, 2012 - - £25.50
La Motte Wine Estate, Fredericksberg, South Africa - 13.5% abv [MERLOT, CABERNET FRANC, MALBEC]
Substantial red with ripe, black-fruit of raspberry and mulberry with a hint of cinnamon spice. Velvety, soft and juicy, a take on right Saint Emillion.

23. BERRY BROS & RUDD WINEMAKERS CLARET, 2014 £6.95 £9.25 £26.75
Bordeaux, France – 13.5% abv [MERLOT/CABERNET SAUVIGNON]
This classic blend o Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon offers aromas of ripe redcurrant, cassis and a hint of savoury spice. On the palate, its seductive fruit flavours are wrapped around a core of fresh acidity and firm yet perfectly integrated tannins.

24. MASSAYA LE COLOMBIER, 2014 - - £31.00
Massaya, Tanail Estate, Bekka Valley, Lebanon - 13.5% abv [CINSAULT, GRENACHE, SYRAH, TEMPRANILLO ]
Wine has been the pride of Lebanon for thousands of years. The winemakers craft began with the Pheonecians and developed through many centuries. This is a new wave soft and subtle red that will really impress.

Richer and Complex

A really sumptuous Australian classic. Rich flavours of ripe plums, dark cherries and fresh blackberries with a lovely hint of spice.

26. CHURCHILL’S ESTATES DOURO, 2012 - - £30.50
Churchill Graham, Douro Valley, Portugal - 13.5% abv [TOURIGA NACIONAL, TOURIGA FRANCA, TINTA RORIZ]
Elegant red fruit and subtle oak. Beautifully textured and lush - made from hand-picked port grapes on the Northerly terraces some 2 hours from Porto.

27. ZINFANDEL, SCOTTO, Old Vine, 2013 - - £28.50
Scotto family vineyards, Lodi, California- 14.5% abv [ZINFANDEL ]
Drinking beautifully, with initial flavours of rich, ripe plums and dark
chocolate, followed by vanilla and spice. The racy nose has black cherry and pepper with a hint of herbs.

28. ‘BLACK MAGIC’ MERLOT, 2014 - - £30.50
Jordan Wine Estate, Stellenbosch, South Africa - 14.5% abv [MERLOT ]
Sublime Merlot: think plums and dark bitter chocolate from old vines planted on Black Tourmaline rich granite soil. Crafted by trophy winning producers Kathy and Gary Jordan.

31. TARIMA HILL, 2014 - - £32.95
Bodegas Volver, Alicante, Spain - 15% abv [MOURVEDRE ]
Made by one of Spain’s most innovative wine –makers, this is an outstanding 100% Monastrell (Mourvedre ) made from old vines at high altitude between Alicante’s main mountain ranges. Aged in French oak for 20 months this is packed with deep brooding blueberries and blackberry notes and a touch of chocolate fudge. This is a real, must try wine. Robert Parker 93 points

Magnums ~ to share

Bottled in magnums especially for us, following a wonderful visit to the Chateau de Grandmont where local Devon wine merchant, Chris Piper, has been making wine for 16 years. We fell in love with both the rose and white wines and think they're the perfect match for our fantastic seafood platter.

32. 'LE ROSÉ' BEAUJOLAIS, 2016 £55.00
12.5% abv [GAMAY]
A crisp, dry rosé made from 100% Gamay, sourced from a specific parcel of vines in the Beaujolais AOC, situated just below the château. Pale salmon pink in colour, it is light and fresh with classic red berry aromas, hints of citrus fruit and a soft, rounded mouthfeel.

33. BEAUJOLAIS BLANC 'les Blanc des Moines', 2016 £58.00
12.5% abv [CHARDONNAY]
That rarest of things, a white Beaujolais, made from 100% Chardonnay. Aromas of greengage and white blossom lead onto a fresh palate with a perfect balance between ripe stone fruit and a zesty citrus freshness.

Stunning dessert wine made from hand-harvested Riesling grapes. Fruity notes of quince, spiced apple and honey combine with a bright zesty acidity to bring it all into balance with excellent structure and length. Try with our lighter desserts.

CAMPBELL’S RUTHERGLEN MUSCAT £29.00 £6.50
Campbells, Rutherglen, Victoria, Australia - 17.5 % abv [MUSCAT A PETITS GRAINS]
Unbelievably concentrated and considered the world richest pudding wine. The palate is luscious and lingering with plenty of sun-ripened raisin fruit, typical of Muscat from the Rutherglen region. Wonderful with any of our richer puddings or chocolate.
