Duty Manager

Brunning Host is a family run hospitality business, which has operated in Plymouth and the South Hams for over twenty years. We currently have two very successful units, The Turtley Corn Mill at Avonwick and The Bridge Bar and Restaurant in Plymouth.

We are now excited to now be looking for a Duty Manager to join our Plymouth restaurant, The Bridge at Mount Batten.

As a Duty Manager, you will help to lead a successful and growing business that delivers amazing customer service and fantastic food to a regular local client base. You will be responsible for ensuring that the team working with you are delivering an exceptional experience to our customers each and every time. It'll do just won't do!

Applicants should therefore have excellent customer service skills and be confident handling any customer service issues that may arise. They should have strong organisational and interpersonal skills, as well as problem solving skills for when the unexpected inevitably happens!

You will need to have some experience in a supervisory role within the hospitality industry, and experience of leading a team of staff. This may be in a junior capacity, and therefore something that you would like to develop. Initial training will be undertaken at The Turtley Corn Mill and full support will be given throughout your employment.

Front of House Team Members

As our existing crew return to their studies, we are now on the search for Front of House Team Members to work on either a full or part time basis. You must be able to work as part of a team, and under pressure as we are lucky enough to be busy throughout the year!

Weekdays, evenings and weekends will be required on a rota basis. You must be over 18 years old as bar work will also be required.

Chef De Partie

We are looking for experienced Chefs de Partie and/or Senior Chefs de Partie to join our crew at The Bridge at Mount Batten and Turtley Corn Mill in Avonwick.

Our Chefs de Partie undertake key roles in the kitchen and we’re looking for people with good cooking skills and experience of working in a busy, fresh food environment.

You’ll have the opportunity to gain experience working across all areas of the kitchen and will generally be given responsibility to look after a particular section with the help of other chefs. On a daily basis you’ll be supporting the Sous Chefs and Head Chef in a range of duties including fresh food preparation and cooking as well as undertaking kitchen management duties including ordering, stock control and ensuring food safety and cleaning standards are met.

As part of the team, you’ll help develop seasonal menus with a spine of freshly prepared, classic British dishes, complemented by more exotic influences from other parts of the world – in other words, modern British cookery.

Creating a happy working atmosphere is vital to the successful running of the kitchens and comes high on our agenda and so your contribution to creating a friendly and supportive working environment is crucial.

The potential here is enormous and we’re looking for ambitious, creative and committed chefs with a passion for good food who are ready to take the next step in their career. Depending on your experience, as a Chef de Partie or Senior Chef de Partie, we’ll reward you with a starting salary package up to £21,000 per annum plus company benefits dependant on experience.
